Our blog page has come online just in time to reflect on all the great things that we have done in year 5 together this year and also to think about what's instore for those joining the team in September.

Nice glasses Alfie!
Strange as it may seem, Alfie's splended atire was part of a Numeracy lesson that took place this summer. As with the rest of the school, Year 5 do all their maths within a variety of contexts. This is to say that we have a theme running through all of the lessons and create interesting and dynamic Numeracy learning woven through and around the idea. In the autumn, the children created the "Cracking Carbrooke Coach Company," which meant buying and running of hypothetical busses, creating routes, repairing broken parts and developing timetables.
In the spring, all the work was based around the fascinating world of Islamic art and sculpture of both the huge and very small. In the summer, Year 5 were up against Captain Doom and had to become secret agents with codes, sequences and some nifty gadgets hidden in an array of clothes and items. Hence we have Alfie and his goggles... Don't get too close, they may actually be a secret weapon or bugging devise in cunning desguise!
